John Masao Katsumata was born on Oct. 6, 1938 and passed away on Oct. 26, 2020. He was 82 and a longtime resident of Long Beach. He attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School and Long Beach City College. He also served a brief stint in the United States Army before taking a job with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring a few years ago.
He is predeceased by his parents, his older brother and a great-nephew. He is survived here in Southern California by his niece, her husband, his two great-nephews, his great-niece and many close friends, plus other relatives in Japan, including his godson.
