SAN FRANCISCO — Miller Law Group recently announced that Emi Gusukuma has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as special counsel.

Gusukuma, who is serving as 2012-13 president of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area (AABA), has 14 years’ experience practicing all aspects of employment law and related litigation. Her focus is on counseling clients on a variety of employment law issues that arise in the workplace, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, leaves of absence and wage and hour claims.

She was a 2010 recipient of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s Best Lawyers Under 40 Award, and was previously associated with the boutique firm Haas & Najarian.

In addition to her work with AABA, Gusukuma is on the board of the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and has served as a commissioner on San Francisco’s Immigrant Rights Commission and as chair of the City’s Ethics Commission, the youngest member ever to serve in that position.

She is also an adjunct professor at UC Hastings College of the Law, where she received her J.D. in 1997. She is a 1993 graduate of UCLA.

Miller Law Group also announced that attorneys Michele Ballard Miller, Janine Simerly, Tracy Thompson, Lisa Hamasaki, and Joseph Mascovich have been recognized as “Super Lawyers” by Super Lawyers-Northern California magazine for 2012. Attorney Adam Tullman was also recognized as a “Northern California Rising Star” for 2012.
