Hobi Fujiu passed away on Dec. 18 in Torrance, Calif. after a courageous battle with several health issues. Hobi was born on Dec. 8, 1923 in Fresno, Calif. and had just celebrated his 86th birthday.
Hobi is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kazumi Fujiu; son, Robert (Melanie) Fujiu of Colorado; daugh¬ters, Beverly Ariyasu of West Los Angeles and Carol (Ross) Takano of Rancho Palos Verdes; sister, Miyeko (Roy) Takaya of Camarillo; sister-in-law, Mrs Kiyo Fujiu of Chicago; grandchildren, Keith and Paige Fujiu, Trisha Ariyasu, and Sophie and Sam¬my Takano; and many other family members. Hobi is preceded in death by brother, Victor Fujiu; first wife, Sayoko “Sally” Fujiu; and son-in-law, Bruce Ariyasu.
Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, Calif. Complimentary valet parking, as well as self-parking, will be available. There will be a reception immediately following at the Sea Em¬press Restaurant in Gardena, Calif.
Burial services will take place on Monday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
