A funeral service for Roy Shuichi Murakami, 78-year-old Los Angeles, Calif.-born Sansei, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at San Fernando Valley Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 9450 Remick Ave., Pacoima, Calif. Family requests aloha attire and that flowers be omitted.

Roy passed away peacefully in North Hollywood on Dec. 19. He is survived by his wife, Michiko Mu¬rakami; children, Dean Murakami, Laura (Michael) Tadakuma, Wendy (Michael) Miyashima, Michael Mu¬rakami; granddaughter, Kellie Mi¬yashima; brother, George (Frances) Murakami; sisters-in-law, Fumiko (Mitsugi) Uyeki, Emiko Nitta; broth¬er-in-law, Minoru (Mieko) Taguchi; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Roy was a 7th degree black belt in Judo; co-owner of Sego Nurs¬ery, Inc.; and a Korean War veteran.
