Akiko Mizumoto Posey passed away on June 6 at Baptist South Medical
Center in Jacksonville, Fla. following a heart attack.
She was born on February 5, 1927 in Yokohama, Japan. After marrying
Calvert Posey in 1959, she moved to Calif., where she resided until
2006, when she moved to Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death
by her loving husband of 34 years in 1992.
Per her wishes, funeral services will not be held. A small Buddhist
ceremony was held for her at the home of friends on June 10 and a
visitation was held on June 11 in Jacksonville. There will also be a
visitation at Green Hills Memorial Park, Palos Verdes, Calif. on June
17 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. She will be buried next to her husband the
following day at noon at Green Hills Memorial Park.

She is survived by sisters, Ayako (Mike)Yokoyama of Carson, Calif.
and Sae Takahashi of Harbor City, Calif.; daughters, Hedy (Scott)
Sberna of Jacksonville, Fla. and Sandra (Joel) Posey-Risberg, of
Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Sophia Sberna, Samantha Sberna, Sasha
Sberna, and Chaz Sberna of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jezebel Posey-
Risberg of Denver, Colo.
Akiko, “Baba” to her grandchildren, will be dearly missed by family
and friends.
