Tetsuro Patrick passed away on May 25th with his family at his side. Patrick lived a full and loving life of 89 years with steadfast faith in God. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Bette Sano, children Julia Young, Judith Izumi and Myra Longfield their spouses and 5 grandchildren. Also survived are Patrick’s brothers Iwao Sano, Bishop Roy I. Sano of The United Methodist Church, and sisters Florence Izumi and Belle Ito.
Patrick was born on 3/17/22 in Brawley, CA. He matriculated at the University of Nebraska, served in the U.S. Army as an interpreter, than began his career as geologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Oregon.
Patrick married in 1949, opened a landscape nursery in Los Gatos and attended Wesley United Methodist Church for many years. In 1974, Patrick relocated to So. CA, as a chemist and product manager. During retirement Patrick re-established ties with the University of Nebraska, assisting with the dedication of the Nisei Plaza in gratitude for Japanese-American students accepted by the college during WWII. Focused on education, Patrick volunteer and tutored in the Adult Literacy Program. Patrick leaves volumes of written memoires and journals, as a legacy for future generations.
A memorial of Patrick’s life will be held on July 2, 2011 at 10:00 am, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 N. 5th Street San Jose, CA 95112.
