He is predeceased by his wife, Reiko Shimizu and his son, Scott Shimizu; survived by his children, Teri and Curtis (Stacy) Shimizu; grandchildren, Fletcher Goetzinger, Jake and Justin Shimizu; siblings, Hitoshi (Kay) Shimizu, Dorothy Miyake, and Melvin (Rosie) Shimizu; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
