Grace Umemoto, age 69, passed away on the evening of September 27, 2011 in Santa Monica, California.
Grace was born Grace Harumi Furuyama on March 8, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Lake View Terrace and later met and married Bruce Umemoto in 1963. They spent the last 41 years living in Woodland Hills, California. Their son Lance was born in 1963, their son Marc was born in 1964 and their daughter Dawn was born in 1969.
Grace owned her own Tool Distribution Company with her husband, Bruce for the past 25 years. They worked together and enjoyed life together. Grace was loved deeply by her family and she will always be admired for her strong will, no non-sense style of living, unequaled work ethic, and her intense love and support for her entire family. You could always count on Grace. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and friends, making holiday meals for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.
Grace is survived by her husband, Bruce Umemoto, her children – Lance, Marc (Cathie), Dawn (David), her grandchildren – Kazu, Abigail and Sam, her brothers – Kenkichi (Ken) Furuyama and James (Jim) Furuyama, her sisters – Chiyeko Sutter and Emiko Sherman and her mom – Hisayo Furuyama. Her father, Tomigi Furuyama preceeded her.
Services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at San Fernando Valley Holiness Church, 9610 Haddon Ave, Pacoima, California. Casual Attire.
