Born on April 11, 1918 in Los Angeles to Rev. Dr. John Misao Yamazaki and Mary Tsune Yamazaki of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Peter graduated from Los Angeles High School and UCLA. He enlisted in the US Army in December 1941 and was a 2nd Lieutenant when he was honorably discharged in 1946. Peter and his wife Joy raised their six children in Los Angeles and Huntington Beach. An avid golfer for most of his adult life, he and his wife retired to the Monterey Peninsula in 1989.

Peter is survived by his son, John Gregory and daughters Mary, Patty, Debbie, Andrea (Kevin) Williamson; grandson, Ian Peter Yamazaki Williamson; brother, Dr. James N. (Aki) Yamazaki; nephews Dr. Mark Yamazaki (Nancy), Dr. Francis Yamazaki (Lani), Paul Yamazaki (Sarah Chin); nieces Sarah Yamazaki Wong (Harry), Kathy Yamazaki, Carol Yamazaki Roberts (Brad), and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy, his daughter, Barbara Anne, his brother, Rev. Canon John H. M. Yamazaki, DD (Fumi), and his sister, Louise Hanako Yamazaki.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Paul Mortuary, 390 Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Central Avenue and 12th, Pacific Grove. There will be a private inurnment at The Monterey City Cemetery in June.
