Gardena Buddhist Church held its annual Fujimatsuri Bazaar on May 5. Performances on the indoor stage included Hawaiian dancing by Kanami Kalama Hula.
The Pon Pon Girls rehearse before going on stage. The lineup also included a judo demonstration, Choichi Kai (Okinawan minyo), Fujima Seiyumi Kai (Japanese classical dance), Isami Taiko, Rabago Shorin Ryu (karate), nTyme (North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble), North High Dance Team, and Wreckin Crew (break dancing).

 

Games for kids included a coin toss for prizes.
The festival included sales of nursery plants (pictured), food, and a country store. The Hondo was also opened to the public.
The koinobori (carp banners) signified that May 5 was Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day) in Japan.
