Zenshuji Soto Mission in Little Tokyo will hold its 54th Obon Carnival on the weekend of July 7-8.
The event will feature the Bon Odori, tea ceremony and flower arrangement demonstrations, and art exhibits.
In addition to food and drinks, there will be a farmer’s market with produce and flowers, a white elephant sale, and a raffle. Purchases must be made with cash.
Entertainment will include a talent show, children’s games, taiko drumming, traditional dances, and Shorinji kempo.

Saturday, July 7
12:30 to 4 p.m.: Tea ceremony
1:30 p.m.: Obon service
3 p.m.: Karaoke
4 p.m.: Kikuta-Kai (Japanese folk dance)
4:30 p.m.: Shorinji kempo (martial art)
5 p.m.: Zendeko (taiko)
5:30 p.m.: Random Ninjas (rock)
6:15 p.m.: Bon Odori
Sunday, July 8
