The Board of Directors of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center have announced that the Annual Meeting of the Members will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at the JACCC, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo.
According to Board Chairperson Sandy Sakamoto, this will be an open meeting so that any interested person is invited to come and attend. Due to recent events at the JACCC, the board is expecting to have many more than the usual number of participants at this year’s meeting.
Bill Watanabe, interim executive director of the JACCC, stated, “We will do our best to give a complete picture of the current status of the JACCC, as well as propose plans for the short- and long-range future. These are urgent times for the center — and we hope to be able to listen to community concerns and comments while at the same time consider plans for the future.”
Sakamoto added, “The JACCC Board has been working hard, along with the dedicated efforts of the staff, to continue the wonderful programs of the JACCC, and to make sure it remains an important cultural, art, and community center for the entire local and Nikkei community. We are hoping our annual meeting, which will be attended by most of our board members, will be a fresh and positive start for the coming year.”
The meeting will be held in the Garden Room (lower level), and according to JACCC staff, will cover the JACCC’s plans, budget, and the hiring of a new executive director.
