GARDENA — A “Manzanar Fishing Club” DVD signing party will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Turtle Beach Store, 1693 W. Artesia Blvd. (near Western, across the street from Marukai), Gardena.

Meet director Cory Shiozaki and writer Richard Imamura, and catch a live performance by multi-platinum and award-winning singer/songwriter Harold Payne, including the film’s theme song, “To Be Free.”
“The Manzanar Fishing Club,” which has been screened at theaters across the country, chronicles the internment of Japanese Americans through the eyes of those who defied the armed guards, barbed wire and searchlights to fish for trout in the surrounding waters of the Eastern Sierra. By emphasizing their personal stories, it goes beyond the confinement itself and highlights values — courage, responsibility and cooperation – that ennoble the human spirit.
Turtle Beach, which features Hawaii’s favorite island apparel, including Hawaiian Island Creations, Hinano, and Go Barefoot, can be reached at (310) 817-5727 or on Facebook.
