Kana Kojiyama was reported stranded near 2715 N. Vermont Canyon Road at 5:35 p.m. and hoisted from the cliff side to safety via helicopter by 6:15 p.m., according to David Ortiz of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Thank God I’m still alive,” Kojiyama told KCAL9. “I was about to die. I was screaming a lot but it took a long time. It seemed like it took like one hour.

“I think I was hanging there for one hour and when the helicopter came there it took at least 10 minutes until they found me.

“They couldn’t find me immediately. I kept talking to people. People said don’t talk, but to me talking to people makes me calmer.”

Kojiyama had no injuries or medical complaints and was released at the scene with a park ranger, Ortiz said.

“I love hiking,” Kojiyama told KCAL9. “I’ll go here only. I’m not going to go to that one anymore.”
