Memorial service for the late George Y. Fujimori, 91-year-old, Fresno, Calif.-born resident of Gardena, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Dec. 23, 2012, will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 11 a.m. at Gardena VFW Post #3261, 1822 W. 162nd St., Gardena, CA 90247.
George was a Nisei veteran who served as a Military Intelligence Service linguist and was honored to receive the Congressional Gold Medal, which was awarded to all Nisei soldiers in the 100th/442/MIS at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., 2011, for their service to our country in WWII.
He is survived by his loving family: son, Glenn (Carole) Fujimori of IL; daughters, Laurie Fujimori of IL and Wendy (Richard Hawkins) Fujimori; brother, Roy S. Fujimori; sister, Midori (Mike) Matsumura of NV; also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
