Private graveside service for Harry Haruo Hamada, 103, an Esumi, Wakayama-ken born Issei and resident of Los Angeles (formerly a long-time resident of Gardena and Irvine) who passed away on Jan. 12, was held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Green Hills Memorial Park, with Dr. Rody Yoshinaka officiating.
During World War II, he was interned in Manzanar and Tule Lake Relocation Camps. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Tsuya Jean (Hattori) Hamada in 2004, and granddaughter Pamela Michi (Mizusaki) Ito of Honolulu in 2009, he is survived by his daughters, Sally Yoshiko (John Jun) Nakao of Los Angeles, and Karen Kyoko (Ben) Mizusaki of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Kathleen (Dr. Rody) Yoshinaka of Irvine, and Sgt. James Mizusaki, Las Vegas Metro P.D.; grandson-in-law, Dr. Berwyn Ito of Honolulu; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Rebecca Yoshinaka of Irvine, and Bryson Ito of Honolulu; and many other relatives here and in Japan.
