A funeral service for Kimio Hatakeyama, 92-year-old, Covina, Calif.-born Nisei, who passed away on Feb. 27, 2013, will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, 1203 W. Puente Ave., West Covina, with Bishop Noriaki Ito from Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple officiating. Family requests that flowers be omitted.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hatakeyama; children, Kris (Akemi) Hatakeyama, Nancy (Raymond) Maekawa and Joy (Calvert) Kitaura; grandchildren, Michael (Charliese) Waldroup, Emi and Kenji Hatakeyama, Randy and Kevin Maekawa, Callen (Ryan) Shimomura, and Kimberly and Tami Kitaura; three great grandchildren; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
