A private funeral service for Kazui Masuda, 96-year-old, Los Angeles-born Nisei, who passed away on April 24, 2013 in San Gabriel, was held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Chapel of Green Hills Memorial Park, with Rev. Richard Furukawa of Johrei Fellowship officiating.

She is survived by her children, Marci and Douglas Masuda; grandchildren, Dr. Lance (Vien) Ogata, Douglas Masuda Jr., Erin Masuda, and Maybelle and Michelle Masuda; great-granddaughters, Summer and Autumn Ogata; siblings, Mas and Yo Oshiki, and Yemi Tokunaga; sisters-in-law, Kiyoko Higuchi, Masae Arima and Taeko Iwanaga; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
