Harvard Parkette, located on Harvard Boulevard at 160th Street in Gardena, near City Hall, has been renamed Sister-City Parkette in honor of Gardena’s two sister cities, Ichikawa, Japan and Huatabampo, Mexico. The Gardena Sister City Association originally requested that the 3,000-square-foot parkette be named after Huatabampo to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ties with that city, but Mayor Paul Tanaka suggested that Ichikawa be included since the 50th anniversary of that exchange program was celebrated last year.
