Little Tokyo Service Center has Certified Enrollment Counselors (CEC) available to help enroll individuals in health insurance coverage through Covered California, under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the federal law for health care reform.
CECs are trained to provide in-person counseling and assistance in English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Spanish.
In order to have health insurance coverage effective by Jan. 1, 2014, individuals need to enroll in health insurance coverage by the Dec. 15 deadline. However, one can still enroll through March 2014 to prevent a penalty if an individual is qualified for insurance but is uninsured.
