George Buto passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his wife, Esther Buto; sister, Masako Howard; two adult children, Tim Buto and Amy King (and their spouses); and grandchildren, Kenny, Ryan, Emily and Dylan.
George was born May 23, 1925 where he grew up on the East Coast with his parents Keiko Izumiya and Matanosuke Izumiya, and sister Marcia, with whom he was very close. He attended Stuyvesant High School, served in WWII with the 442nd I Company Infantry, attended Syracuse University and University of Tulsa, and retired as a petroleum geologist with the State of California. George had a full life and was robust to the end. He will remain forever in our heart and be with us always.
