A memorial service for Chikashi “Chick” Uyemura, 93-year-old, Los Angeles-born Nisei resident of Gardena and U.S. Army veteran, who passed away peacefully on Dec. 14, 2013, will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 2115 West 182nd Street, Torrance, CA 90504.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mariko, who passed in 1977, and his wife, Taeko Hazel, who passed in 2005. He is survived by his son, David (Cathy) Uyemura; daughter, Susan Vuolo; stepsons, Donald (Marian) Aoki of Nevada, Alan (Misao) Aoki of Oregon, and Jackson (Judy) Aoki; 8 grandchildren; sister, Shizuye Kawai; and many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
