A funeral service for James Hajime Mayeda, 89-year-old, Sacramento, Calif.-born Nisei, World War II veteran, who passed away on Dec. 26, 2013 in Los Angeles, was held under the auspices of the Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

He is survived by his children, Charles (Sue) Mayeda, Ann (Mark) Schaefer from Port Washington, N.Y., Amy (Reggie) Thibodeaux, and Lynn Foxx; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lauren Mayeda, Amy, James, and Eric Schaefer, Clay and Cameron Thibodeaux; also survived by other relatives.
