Sam Masami Fujishima died peacefully at home in Montebello, Calif. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at the age of 92. Sam leaves his loving wife Yone of 69 years; his devoted children, Laura (Doug) Shur, Donna Ploch (Steve Cotten), Elizabeth and Victor (Grace); and six grandchildren. Sam is also survived by his sister, Mary Masuda; and brothers, Nob (Claire) and Mits (Kaz). Viewing in Rose Hills Mortuary Stateroom will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Services will take place on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. in the SkyRose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA (562-699-0921 or rosehills.com).
