Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro’s national tour will take him to California next month.
Shimabukuro returns to the stage with his brand new tour 2014 Uke Nations Tour. As a follow-up to the successful year-long, multi-nation Grand Ukulele Tour, he is set to take the ukulele to the world and bring people together as one “Uke Nation.”
The tour kicks of with a U.S. spring leg in January in Jacksonville, Fla. Plans are in the works to then take the show to Japan, Australia, Asia, China, Canada and several more countries.
In the words of Time magazine, “forget everything you know about the ukulele” and see Shimabukuro as you’ve never seen him before.
The California portion of the tour is as follows:
• Friday, Feb. 14, at 8 p.m. at Rio Theatre, 1205 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz
• Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Tower Theatre, 815 E. Olive Ave., Fresno
• Sunday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Harman Hall, 1 Grand Ave., San Luis Obispo
• Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. at Majestic Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chestnut St., Ventura
• Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Balboa Theatre, 868 Fourth Ave., San Diego
The April 24 at Bing Concert Hall in Palo Alto is sold out.
