
GARDENA — This year’s Obon season in Southern California will draw to a closed at Gardena Buddhist Church, 1517 W 166th St. in Gardena, on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 3 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 3, from 3 to 9 p.m.
Hundreds of dancers are expected to participate in the Obon Odori from 6 to 8 p.m. both days. Dances will include “Akachan Ondo,” “Bambutsu,” “Gassho Ondo,” “Kyushu Tanko Bushi,” “Mottainai,” “Sakura Ondo,” “Shiwawase Samba” and “Tohoku Ondo.”
The festival will feature games, a white elephant sale, and food booths featuring teriyaki, udon, Spam musubi, sushi, tamales, hot dogs, corn and dango.
