SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Bay Area All Clubs Reunion, formerly known as the San Francisco All Clubs Reunion, invites members of social, scout, athletic and church clubs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s to reconnect with old friends and reminisce on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, 1840 Sutter St. (near Buchanan) in San Francisco Japantown.
For those who find stairways to be a challenge, the JCCCNC elevator is available.
Admission is $45 per person and includes a bento lunch, name tags with first and maiden names in large print, a list of those who signed up for the reunion (so you can seek out your friends) and a reunion souvenir CD of historical photos from various groups. Dress is casual. Proceeds will go toward the JCCCNC.
Many who attended the 2011 reunion had glowing comments about how much fun they had visiting with their old friends.
Past participants have included members of Arbees, Associates, Troop 58, Barons, Darts, Dots, Fogs, girls’ basketball teams (Girl Scouts, Clovettes, Juniorettes, Links, Marquettes, Sparks, Stinkers, Dhynnas 2), Sweat Sox, and Troop 12. This is the sixth reunion for these organizations. The first was held in 1985.
The reunion committee is seeking members of San Francisco groups Enchantees, Coquettes, Gales, Protos, Royal AC, Rogues, Dhyanas, Harlem AC, Dukes, Celtics and other local groups.
In an effort to be a bit more inclusive, the reunion invites Japanese American friends and groups from the East Bay (Richmond, El Cerrito, Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda, San Lorenzo, and others), the Peninsula (San Mateo, Redwood City, Mountain View, San Jose and others), and from as far as Sacramento.
The organizing group continues to collect photos to establish a historical archive of the groups involved. Send high-resolution scans of photos (300 dpi or better) to Yoshiko Takemoto Ho at yokenho@sbcglobal.net or mail them to 235 Molimo Dr., San Francisco, CA 94121. The group asks that each photo include the group or team name, the names of individuals pictured, the year in which it was taken, and any other pertinent information.
Checks for the reunion should be made out to John Kobayashi and sent to 47 Manzanita Ave., San Francisco, CA 94118. Include your group affiliation, and for the married ladies your maiden name. For more information, contact Kobayashi at hjkoby@comcast.net or Akio Inouye at akicpa@pacbell.net or (650) 483-3687.
