Los Angeles – Skylight Books will have a party to celebrate Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage (Knopf). This long-awaited book sold more than a million copies the first week it went on sale in Japan.
It is the remarkable story of Tsukuru Tazaki, a young man haunted by a great loss; of dreams and nightmares that have unintended consequences for the world around us; and of a journey into the past that is necessary to mend the present. It is a story of love, friendship, and heartbreak for the ages.
At 10 pm on Monday, August 11, Skylight Books will begin taking orders for the new novel. Signed copies will go first. Plan to arrive right at 10 pm if you’d like a signed copy. From 10pm until midnight, there will be music and refreshments. Mingle with fellow superfans, have a seat under the store tree and read a book, or go searching for the store cat. And then, when the clock strikes 12:01am, everyone gets their copies of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage.
These are the rules:
– Books will not be handed out until midnight.
– Each customer may buy up to two signed copies (and unlimited additional unsigned copies if you wish).
– Signed copies may NOT be ordered in advance, over the phone or online. They will be available only at this midnight release party for purchase in person.
The event is open to the public.
