Rainstorms on Aug. 4, though welcome, caused massive flooding and closed the auto tour road at the Manzanar National Historic Site. The south portion of the road opened to two-way traffic on Aug. 6, and the entire road reopened on Aug. 7. The road provides access to the camp cemetery, gardens, camouflage net factory, and other features. Chief of Interpretation Alisa Lynch said that the orchards were still being assessed, but the gardens are okay. (National Park Service photo)
