A private family memorial was held for Kazuko Kaneshina, 91-year-old, Kohala, Hawaii-born Nisei who peacefully passed away on Jan. 16, 2015 in Gardena, Calif., with Rev. Paul Nakamura officiating.

Kazuko was predeceased by her husband Chiyoto “Hoppy” Kaneshina. She is survived by daughters, Jocelyn (Ron) Kawasaki and Nina (Lester) Tanaka; grandsons, Tyler Kawasaki and Spencer Tanaka; brothers, Shintoku (Harue) Kise of Kohala and Shinso (Sally) Kise of Gardena; sisters, Kikue (Mike) Takaki of Seattle and Tomie (Dee Jay) Brady of Boise; sister-in-law, Ruth (Shinko) Kise of Gardena; brothers-in-law, Roy (Irene) Kaneshina of Stockton, Asato (Ruth) Kaneshina of Wildomar and Takeo (Jane) Kaneshina of Honolulu; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Kazuko will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii, where she will be reunited with her husband “Hoppy.”
