There will be two sessions, one for high school students and another for college students and young professionals. The high school session will be led by Jodi Fodor, author and creator of “The SAT Word Slam” (satwordslam.com). She will help students create and edit their resumes (also known as “brag sheets”) and tailor them for internships, college applications, jobs, and receiving letters of recommendations.

The college and young professionals session will be led by Stacy Toyota, a human resources rep at NBC Universal. She will discuss key points on resume and cover letter writing and editing in order to better ensure success when applying for jobs, internships, and fellowships.

In addition to these two professionals, the workshop will feature a panel of expert editors (including an English professor and various human resources workers from different companies) to help edit your resumes and cover letters on the spot.

Register online at jci-gardena.org under “Youth and Pathways to Professions” or email Michelle Yamashiro at myamashiro@jci-gardena.org. Space is limited to ensure all participants get time to edit their work. Remember to bring your laptops, flash drives, and tablets as free wi-fi is available and participants will be able to access their work during the workshop.
