The fifth annual Global Harmony Prayer will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Go For Broke Monument, Temple and Alameda in Little Tokyo, with the cooperation of Nichiren Shu Beikoku Betsuin.
“This prayer service is to be held in the Buddhist doctrines of ‘memorial service’ as a way of being part of the society and expressing the contribution toward the happiness and harmony of the world,” said Global Harmony Prayer Committee Chairman Join Inoue.
“This year is going to be our first year, and we are planning this to be the annual event at the Nisei Week going forward. It is our ultimate goal and objective for this prayer service to become the part of Los Angeles community movement.
“In our conflicting world of today, it is difficult to think for a moment toward happiness and harmony. It is our greatest pleasure if we can make this day at each year as the monument to wish for the global happiness and harmony beyond the boundary of the thoughts, customs and religion among us.”
