Regional Connector Constructors (RCC) will begin traffic reconfiguration and grouting operations on Second Street from Central Avenue to San Pedro Street on Saturday, April 2, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., rescheduled from Saturday, March 26.

Grouting activity is a soil improvement method involving the injection of a mixture of cement and sand into the ground.

Second Street from San Pedro to Central will be closed to through traffic for reconfiguration of traffic lanes and to establish the construction zone. Sidewalks will remain open.

Access will be maintained to customers of Sho Tokyo/Joe’s Parking (350 E. Second St.), Brunswig Square/SP Parking and the Japanese Village Plaza loading dock. Vehicles must enter from westbound on Second or southbound on Central only.

Starting Monday, April 4, and continuing until August, work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Access will be maintained to the mid-block crosswalk between San Pedro and Central. Second Street will be maintained open to through traffic with one lane in each direction.

Parking meters will be available between the mid-block crosswalk and Central Avenue only. Commercial loading zones will be maintained east of the mid-block crosswalk. Two-hour free parking validation will be available at Little Tokyo businesses during the period of construction.
