Kimi S. Ito was born on Jan. 22, 1914, in Los Angeles, Calif. and passed away on Feb. 26, 2017 in Redondo Beach, Calif. She graduated from Redondo Union High School and grew up in the Hermosa Beach/Redondo Beach areas. She is survived by her daughters, Teri Ito Abbott and Helene Albright (Philip); granddaughter, Stephanie Ito Abbott; and great-grandson, Brayden. She worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Education as a braillist for the visually impaired for over 20 years. She founded the South Bay Parkinson’s Support Group in 1983 because her husband, Tomo, contracted the disease in 1971. She lived a wonderful life for most of her 103 years.
