Tad Tadayoshi Nakamura
January 10, 1937 – August 5, 2016
Tad Tadayoshi Nakamura passed away at his home in San Bernardino from cardiac arrest on August 5, 2016.
Born in Sacramento, Taddy, as he was called throughout his life, was the eldest son of Kaoru and Naoshi Nakamura. The family moved to Los Angeles where he attended 111th Street School. With the outbreak of World War II, the family was sent to Santa Anita Race Track, then to Heart Mountain, Wyoming. After the war, he attended L.A. Jordan Junior High School and graduated from Fremont High School in 1955.
Growing up in the fifties, Tad attended Compton Gakuen on Saturdays and Compton Dojo on Tuesdays and Fridays where his father was a founding member. During the week he helped out in the family store, Village Market. While at Fremont, he lettered in Bee Football. In the late fifties, he was a member of the “Rodans’ Car Club.” In 1959, Tad married Patricia Kathleen Jung and they had a son, Damian Timothy. Tad is survived by granddaughter, Katherine Nakamura of Cabool, Missouri; sisters, Tami Yamaga and Toshi Kawano; and brother, Don Nakamura; along with eight nieces and nephews.
Tad was always helpful and caring to everyone he met throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mesa Linda Room at the Costa Mesa Country Club, 1701 Golf Course Drive, Costa Mesa. Casual dress. No koden please.
