Steven Isamu Ogawa, 87, died July 6, 2018.
Born May 13, 1931 in Los Angeles to William Yukichi and Fumiko Frances Ogawa, he was a retired electrical engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He enjoyed playing and watching most sports but mainly baseball, basketball and tennis and was especially fond of cheering for his alma mater, UCLA.
During World War II, his family was sent to Heart Mountain, Wyoming. Up until his death, he was actively involved in Heart Mountain camp and class reunions. Involved in youth sport activities such as coach for boys basketball and baseball for VFW Kazuo Masada Post 3778 and Wintersburg Presbyterian Church. He married Terry Teruko Ogawa in 1958 in Los Angeles.
He is survived by sons Curtis Yukio, Russell Isao and Douglas Teruo; daughter Judith Hideko; brother Raymond Takashi (Betty); 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Katsumi (Reiko).
Funeral will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Wintersburg Presbyterian Church, 2000 N. Fairview St, Santa Ana, with Rev. Masaya Hibino officiating.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
