Richard M. Kawanishi

Richard Masaji Kawanishi, 93, died on August 25, 2020 at his home in Leisure World, Seal Beach. He was born in Torrance. He lived in the internment camps at Rohwer and Jerome, AR during WWII. He served in the U.S. Army after the war and later graduated from Washington U. in St. Louis. He became a CPA and was one of the first professional corporations in the state of MO. After retirement he moved to Seal Beach, CA. His interests were Japanese history, politics and finance.
He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Kimie Kawanishi. He is survived by his older sister Jean Saeko Terayama of Kaneohe, HI; his 2 sons and their spouses, David & Patricia Kawanishi of San Juan Capistrano, and Stanley & Carol Kawanishi of Whittier; his daughter Polly & Andrew Leech of MD; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Arrangements for a memorial service will be made at a later date due to COVID-19.
