Setsuko “Sets” Mori

Setsuko “Sets” Mori passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2020 in Yorba Linda, California at the age of 92. Sets was born in Inglewood, California to Kichimatsu and Kitsuye Okumura, and was the youngest of four daughters. As a young girl, Sets and her family were interned in Jerome, Arkansas, then Gila River, Arizona during WWII. Sets graduated high school in the Gila River internment camp. Her first job after camp was in Colorado, caring for the children of a wealthy family. As an adult, Sets worked on her family’s farm, then married Frank Mori on July 15, 1953. Sets and Frank were married until Frank’s passing in 2005. Sets had two primary professions. She owned and operated the Pagoda Salon in Anaheim, California, for many years. Then, at the age of 50, Sets became a Realtor, also in Anaheim, and served the community in that capacity for nearly 30 years.

Sets is survived by her daughter Shirley Murray, her husband Bob, and their two children Josh and Ashley; her daughter Debbie Barba, her husband Mike and their son Mike; her daughter Vicky Kleppe, her husband Bob, and their children Alisha and Robbie; her son Bruce Mori and his wife Janet. Sets is also survived by her sister Ritz, her great grandchildren Maleeya, Aulani, Liv and Mia, as well as many nieces, nephews and her devoted cat, Pumpkin.
