Local residents await the opening of the Sixth Street Viaduct to car and foot traffic on July 10 after a six-year closure. A three day celebration took place over the weekend commemorating the opening of the bridge, which connects Boyle Heights and the Arts District. The city’s Bureau of Engineering plans to create a 12-acre park under the bridge to provide access to the L.A. River, public art, recreational programming and more. (MARIO GERSHOM REYES/Rafu Shimpo)
