Kimika “Kimi” Hoshino-Takemoto, a 97-year-old Nisei, passed away peacefully at home in Montebello on September 18, 2022.

She was the youngest daughter of Kanji and Miyono Takemoto, born in Gardena, Calif. on May 14, 1925.

From 1943 to 1945, Kimi and family were interned in Poston Camp in Arizona.

She met and married her husband, Joe Shokichi. They raised two children and settled into family life in Montebello. She was a homemaker and devoted wife to Joe for 58 years.

She is survived by her two children and grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 10 a.m. at Fukui Mortuary Chapel, 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles, CA 90012, followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park Gate #1 at 12 p.m., 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA 90601.

We will always remember her kind, caring, and gentle ways, and always saying “Thank you very much.”
