PASADENA — A garage-sale-style sale of used kimono and kimono accessories, handmade pottery and crafts, and more will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Shumei Center, 2430 E. Colorado Blvd., in Pasadena.
Admission is free and parking available.
There will be a total of 15 booths, including kimono accessories and ceramics, including Kimonoya L.A. and San Diego’s Beauty by Kiyoko.
In addition to pottery, shoshiwananabe + shingocube also offers matcha tea service for a fee. Naokoceramics Pottery also sells plates, bowls, and Yumori cups. In addition, there will be flash calligraphy and handmade origami earrings from Runkankan.
The pop-up sale is one of a series of events organized by Chiharu Nakajima Till, who gathers local independent used kimono vendors and the individuals who want to sell their kimono from their closet, and throws the weekend events in various loacation such as the South Bay, Irvine and San Diego.
Nakajima says, “This is the first of its kind in Pasadena. It’s like a bunch of garage sales, but this time, we add the pottery. There will be 15 vendors. We hope you’ll come and look for bargains.”
The event is popular for its affordable prices, with vintage kimono starting at $29 and new yukata starting at $49.

First of heard of this type of sale. I would be very interested but I sure would like a couple of weeks notice. I just heard of this a day after the sale. Maybe post it in FB? or maybe just send notices to those on your email, like me, who are just odori dancers locally for community functions, not professional, just experienced in community functions.
