August 8, 1929 – September 17, 2024

Roy Yujiro Takeshita, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away peacefully in his home on September 17, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on August 8, 1929, in Florin, California, Roy led a life of dedication to his family, community, and education.

After graduating from Poly Technic High School in Los Angeles, Roy pursued his passion for education at California State University, Long Beach, earning degrees in industrial arts education and high school administration. His career with the Anaheim Union High School District spanned more than 30 years. Roy started as an industrial arts teacher, went on to serve as a counselor, and eventually became an assistant principal, retiring in 1986. He touched countless lives, known for his commitment to fostering student growth and success.

Roy was predeceased by his father and mother, Tamezo and Kazue Takeshita; his brother, Carl Takeshita; and his sister, Lydia Takeshita. He is survived by his brother, Byron Takeshita. Roy is also survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Arlene; his son, Rian Takeshita (Tonie); his daughter, Cary Okamoto (John); and his cherished granddaughter, Karly Okamoto.

Outside of his professional life, Roy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping, and took great pride in entertaining family and friends. His warmth and generosity made him a cherished presence at gatherings, where his laughter and stories will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at Cerritos Baptist Church located at 11947 Del Amo Blvd., Cerritos, Calif., on January 13, 2025, at 10 a.m.

Roy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering dedication to education, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
