Peggy Sugimoto, 95, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the Clearwater Senior Living in Torrance, Calif. Raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii, her schooling included Leilehua High School, University of Hawaii and St. Francis School of Nursing in Honolulu, where she earned her nursing and anesthesiology degrees. She moved to the “Mainland,” where she married and resided primarily in Culver City, Calif. She was a devoted member of the Venice Japanese Community Center and a sports fan of the Dodgers, Lakers and Rams, and of course her children’s “VYC” sports teams.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wataru; siblings, Francis Watanabe (Toshi) and Donald Watanabe (Midori); children, Steve Sugimoto (Carole), Eric Sugimoto (Donna) and Jennifer Chan née Sugimoto (Wesley). Proud grandma to Derek, Tyler, Kyle, Lisa, Natalie and Ryan.
