The Chinese American Museum will present ”Advancing Equality: United States v. Wong Kim Ark” on Wednesday, April 16, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at Pico House, 424 N. Main St., Los Angeles.
This event will explore the landmark 1898 Supreme Court case that solidified birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, as well as the lasting impact of the case and its continued relevance in shaping civil rights protections today.
The evening will feature a panel of experts, including Helen Zia, activist and author; Dr. Linda Trinh Vo, professor emeritus at UC Irvine; Connie Chung Joe, JD, CEO of Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL); and Professor Hiroshi Motomura, faculty co-director of the Center for Immigration Law and Policy at UCLA Law.
The program will also feature special guest Norman Wong, great-grandson of Wong Kim Ark.
