Orange County-based nonprofit organization Nova Vita Foundation will host the sixth annual Nova Vita Festival on July 11-12 at Tanaka Farms, 5380 3/4 University Dr., Irvine.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The festival is planned and organized primarily by local high school students, with guidance and support from adult volunteers. More than 3,000 people attended last year’s event, making it one of the largest student-led cultural festivals in Orange County.
Founded seven years ago, Nova Vita Foundation provides volunteer and leadership opportunities for local students. Through hands-on community projects, students develop leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills while making a positive impact in their community.
The Nova Vita Festival serves as the foundation’s flagship project. This Japanese-themed cultural festival introduces the traditions, food, and community spirit of Japan to Southern California residents and visitors.
Festival attendees can enjoy a wide variety of Japanese food vendors, cultural exhibits, hands-on activities such as mask painting and traditional matsuri games, as well as live entertainment throughout the weekend. Visitors can also participate in the festival’s Karaoke Contest, one of its signature attractions.
Nova Vita Festival is also seeking volunteers to support event operations. High school students, college students, and adults who are interested in community service and event management are welcome to join the team.
Admission to the festival is free. Parking fees apply.
