Kenji Miyamoto passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. A private service was held on August 27 at Rose Hills Graveside in Whittier.

Born the youngest of three brothers, Kenji attended Belvedere Elementary School, Belvedere Junior High School, and Garfield High School, where he earned First Team All-Eastern League basketball honors in 1965. He graduated from Los Angeles State College with a degree in business accounting after serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. Kenji enjoyed a 35-year career with the California State Board of Equalization and also earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential before retiring in 2006.

On April 22, 1978, he married Shirley Yano. Together they built a loving home and raised their two children, Matthew and Whitney.

Kenji enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling with family and friends, watching birds and squirrels, and spending time with neighborhood dogs and his family’s cats. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
