Honda-ya, 556 El Camino Real in Tustin, will hold a Charity Japanese Festival on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The free event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Honda-ya’s sister restaurant Kappo Honda in Fountain Valley will feature 13 acts on stage and 25 booths.
Honda-ya planned a Guinness World Records attempt this year with 600 people eating California rolls at the same time. The timing didn’t work out for an official attempt, so the festival is doing it anyway as a practice run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The California rolls are free.
Other stage highlights (times approximate):
4:30 p.m.: Awa Odori
5 p.m.: Samurai sword show
5:30 p.m.: Mikoshi
7 p.m.: Bon Odori (everyone welcome to join)
The festival will also feature taiko, food stalls, games, and a dog adoption booth with No Stray Left Behind, a Tustin rescue. A portion of the day’s sales goes to Tustin Community Foundation.
