Lively and lighthearted Hazel Tokumi was born in Wailuku, Maui ninety-nine years ago. It was there that she graduated from Baldwin High School and married a very kind and handsome “local boy,” Larry Suzuki. Aaron and Colin (two fine sons) soon brought joy and laughter into their lives. The years passed and Larry changed jobs and the family moved to the mainland but no matter. Hazel knew how to make any house into a warm and welcoming home.
Our Hazel left quietly and peacefully on October 16. We will miss the mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always cheerful, always joking, always a Dodgers fan, and always able to create with her hands the beauty she felt in her heart.
