Age 88. Beloved wife of Arthur, dear mother of Jeffrey, Carol (Jim) Viventi, and Sue (Gordon) Melms. Grandmother of Jane & Katie Viventi and Tina (John) Archambault. Survived by brother Yas (Joyce) Aochi and June (Marty) Berk. Predeceased by brother Tom Aochi. Kay Umeko attended Belmont High School prior to WWII, and was evacuated from her home with her family one month before graduating from High School.
She was incarcerated in the Rohwer Internment Camp in Rohwer, Arkansas, during WW II. Married Arthur in Detroit, MI 67 years ago. She lived with her husband Art and raised their children in Farmington, Michigan. Kay was a licensed beautician schooled in St. Paul, MN, a knitter, quilter and maker of Japanese dolls. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday July 21 at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home Livonia at 2pm until the time of the service at 3pm. Followed by a reception at St. Timothy Presbyterian Church in Livonia.
