Feb. 24, 1947 – Aug. 20, 2011
Joyce Matsuyama passed away peacefully on Aug. 20 at home with husband, Bobby, and son, Aaron, by her side.
She was born in Ogden, Utah to Kaz and Martha Fukuda.
At the age of five, their family moved to Calif. In Los Angeles, she married the love of her life. She worked as a Sr. Executive Assistant at Mattel Toys for 14 years until her retirement. In 2010, they returned to Utah to build their “dream home” on the Barn Golf Course in Pleasant View.
To her family and friends, Joyce was the “Asian” Martha Stewart. She was a gracious hostess, a master of entertaining and cooked with an eye for style. Guests knew the house rule: “Take food with you as you leave.” Artistically talented, she excelled at piano, sewing and Bunka Shishu, traditional Japanese embroidery. Their home showcases her beautiful needlework.
She is survived by her mother, husband, son, stepdaughter, two grandchildren and two brothers.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no service.
Cremation was under the direction of Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. Send condolences to www.lindquistmortuary.com.
